Terbinafine Hydrochloride 1% Cream What does this drug do? TERBINAFINE is an antifungal. It is used to treat skin infections caused by some kinds of fungus. What do I need to tell my doctor before taking this medicine? They need to know if any of these things are true about you: pregnant or trying to get pregnant Breast-feeding How do I take this medication? This medicine can only be put on the skin. Do not eat or drink. Before and after using, wash your hands. If you're trying to treat an infection on your hands or nails, wash your hands first. Use enough of the product to cover the damaged skin or nail and the area around it. Do not put a bandage or dressing on the treated area unless your doctor or another medical professional tells you to. Don't get this medicine in your eyes. If you do, use a lot of cool tap water to clean up. Use this medicine as prescribed. Do not use more than the instructions say. Even if you think you are better, finish the whole course. Don't miss doses or stop taking this medicine before it's time. Talk to your child's doctor about giving this medicine to a child. There may be a need for extra care. Overdose: Call a poison control center or emergency room right away if you think you've taken too much of this medicine. NOTE: Only you can take this medicine. Don't give this medicine to anyone else. What if I forget to take one? If you forget to take a dose, put it on as soon as you can. If your next dose is almost due, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses. What could go wrong if I take this medicine? There won't be any conversations. Do not put any other skin products on the area unless your doctor or another health care professional tells you to. Give your doctors a list of all the medications, herbs, over-the-counter drugs, and dietary supplements you take. Tell them if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some things may change how your medicine works. What should I watch out for while taking this medicine? If your symptoms don't get better after a week, talk to your doctor or another health care professional. It can take a long time to get rid of some fungal infections. Make sure you finish all of your medicine. Make sure to dry your skin all the way after you take a bath or shower. Most types of fungus live in moist environments. Every day, wear clean socks and clothes. What are the possible side effects of this medicine? You should tell your doctor or other health care professional as soon as possible if you have any of the following side effects: rash, itching, blistering, peeling, increased redness, or swelling of the skin. Side effects that usually don't need medical help (but you should tell your doctor or health care provider if they keep happening or bother you): dry skin minor redness, burning, or stinging on the skin This list may not describe all possible side effects. Where can I store my pills? Keep out of children's reach. Store at room temperature between 5 abd 25 degrees C (41 and 77 degrees F). Do not refrigerate. After the expiration date, throw away any medicine that hasn't been used.
